Paklenica National Park near Zadar is one of Europe's legendary rock climbing destinations — 400+ routes on white limestone from Grade 3 to Grade 8, in a dramatic canyon setting that makes every route feel like an adventure. Croatia's best climbing, and some of the continent's finest.
Paklenica National Park is Croatia's — and one of Europe's — premier rock climbing destinations. The park contains two parallel gorges cut through white Velebit limestone, with walls that rise 400 metres vertically and offer climbing routes at every grade from beginner slabs to multi-pitch 8b sport routes that attract elite climbers from across the continent.
The main climbing area in Velika Paklenica canyon has well-established sport and trad routes with solid bolt protection, making it a safe and accessible venue for guided sessions with beginners. Single-pitch routes close to the canyon floor start at Grade 3 — perfect for first-timers wanting to try real outdoor climbing on genuine limestone. More experienced climbers can work their way up the canyon walls on multi-pitch routes with canyon views that become increasingly spectacular as you gain height.
Beyond Paklenica, Croatia's coast and islands offer additional climbing — sea-cliff sport routes on Brač with the Adriatic directly below, and limestone walls above Hvar town that provide short climbing sessions easily combined with a ferry visit to the island. All our climbing sessions are guided by UIAA-certified Croatian mountain guides. Pair a climbing day with hiking in Paklenica for a full national park adventure.
