The Zrmanja is Croatia's wildest river — a remote canyon in northern Dalmatia where Grade 3 rapids plunge past ancient waterfalls and towering limestone gorges. Less visited than the Cetina, more dramatic in every way.
While the Cetina River is Croatia's most popular rafting destination, the Zrmanja is its best-kept secret. Running through the heart of northern Dalmatia near Obrovac, the Zrmanja carves through one of the most dramatic limestone canyons in the entire Adriatic region.
The river features genuine Grade 3 whitewater — a step up from the Cetina, with longer rapid sections, powerful hydraulics and the added drama of multiple waterfalls. The most iconic is the Miljacka waterfall, a 7-metre drop that rafters navigate with a combination of technique and pure adrenaline.
The landscape here is extraordinary — untouched canyon walls rising 150 metres from the river, dense Mediterranean vegetation, and crystal-clear water fed by karst springs. In the quieter sections between rapids, you'll paddle through pools of emerald and turquoise that look almost unreal. Combine with a coastal transfer for an epic Dalmatian road trip.
